The birth of a day

The International Day of Tolerance is created as a way to commemorate the the passing of Declaration of Principles on Tolerance.

1964

The Civil Rights Act is Enacted

Potentially the single most important piece of legislation for tolerance and equality in U.S. history, the Civil Rights Act of 1964 banned discrimination on the basis of race, color, religion, sex, or national origin.

1963

A dream is born

During the March on Washington for Jobs and Freedom, Martin Luther King, Jr. delivered his famous "I Have A Dream" speech in which he advocated for a wold of tolerance and equality through non-violent means.

1915

Gandhi Returns

After spending 21 year working as a lawyer, activities, and community organizer in South Africa helping indigenous peoples against British colonizers, Gandhi returns to India to help his homeland fight for freedom through non-violence and tolerance.
