UCSD's library was renamed the Geisel Library for the author's generous contributions over the years.
Geisel published both "The Cat in the Hat" and "How the Grinch Stole Christmas."
Not only did Geisel draw posters, he also commanded the Animation Department of the U.S. Army Air Forces.
Geisel, working at an ad agency, produced a 30-page booklet for Standard Oil called "Secrets of the Deep."
Geisel graduated from Dartmouth College.
