What is United Nations Day?

Juneteenth Juneteenth, celebrated annually on June 19, is the official day which marks the end of slavery in the United States. Though Lincoln issued the Emancipation Proclamation in 1863, Texas didn’t comply with the abolition of slavery until June 19, 1865. On this day, many African Americans around the country celebrate their freedom and independence.
